Aubree’s Journal
My Dad started this festival called Western Days in Rhinehart. It started with a parade on main street. My Dad had gotten the military post to be in it. They wanted to shoot a cannon at the end of the parade. My Aunt Ida said no way, it will blow out all the windows on main street. My dad told them no, because it would spook the horses and livestock in the parade. The ag boys got to lead their winning animals down main in the parade. We decorated a flatbed truck and our band played the whole parade route. There were games all day, turtle races, pie eating, cow chip throwing and fiddling contest. There were ribbons for quilts, crafts, pies and preserves. There were bands playing all day. We played two sets that day.
The coolest thing was my dad got this mechanical bull and set it up on the end of main street. I gotta ride it! So much fun and funny to watch! At the end of the day there was a street dance and Justin’s Dad’s band would play on a flat bed trailer. They would throw out saw dust all over main street, so your boots could slide easier while dancing. People came from all over the country.
This is country life, it don’t get any better than this!
