I am honored to be chosen for a feature interview with Capital Fund Screenplay Compititon!
What motivated you to become a writer?
During a hard point in my life, writing was my getaway. I soon found the more I wrote, the more excited I became. My novel became a series, then a screenplay, a TV/pilot script, and soon I began writing multiple genres.
Starting on a blank page is not easy- where does your creativity come from?
I started writing about something that was familiar. It wasn’t long before storylines came to me so often, I was making notes on napkins, phones, whatever I could find. Now I have a folder full ready to be completed.
Do you write projects knowing that so many other factors need to happen to get it to screen, and does that come into your project creation?
The first thing for me is to let the creativity flow uninterrupted, meaning I don’t worry about the technical issues or budget. Once the screenplay is written, then I can go in, cut, or add whatever is needed.
What is your dream for this project, and what other ancillary revenue do you think it could generate? Please include script title in reply.
“Journey of Innocence Lost” is based on a portion of my book, “Seasons Once Upon My Innocence.” My dream for this film is that the audience will connect and be inspired by the story. The other revenue from this project will help promote the “Seasons,” book series, and TV pilot script. They are all connected.
How has your experience been with screenwriting contests for this project so far?
“Journey of Innocence Lost,” has won multiple awards from New York to Los Angeles for Feature, Dialogue, and Christian screenplay.
If you could stand in a room full of investor partners looking at many projects, what would you like them to know about you and this project?
This project is fresh, original, and inspiring. There will be a character or situation you can relate too. It is an intense drama with lighthearted moments. The project is open-ended, leaving the possibility of a sequel or mini-series. There is also a TV/pilot series that could spin off the feature already written.
Do you have any website links for your writing, credits, background, etc. that you would like to share?
