Aubree’s Journal
I try to be friends with everyone and treat them with kindness. Sometimes that’s really hard to someone who is sarcastic and hurtful to you most of the time. Breelin is one of those. I try to be friends because we are on the cheer squad together.
After an event at church for the youth, Breelin’s mom didn’t show up to get her. My dad suggested we take her home. I rolled my eyes and said ok. When we got to her house, it was so bad! There was fire inside. Her mom and dad were fighting. We all walked right into the middle of battle. Breelin’s dad, Earl ran off. My dad managed to get the fire out and call the Sheriff. Breelin’s mom was hurt really bad. I didn’t know what to do.
I felt so bad for her. She looked at me all teary eyed and asked me to stay with her. I never knew what she had been living with all this time. My home life is good and my parents never fought like that. I couldn’t relate. I realized that Breelin’s attitude was all a front to hide her home life. I would like to say we became best friends after that day. When she came back to school, she treated me worse than ever. Guess she is afraid I will tell people what I know. Maybe she just want’s people to think I’m dumb, in case I do say something. No one will believe me. At this point, I don’t have a clue that she is thinking.
I want to be angry at her. I want to push back. I pray for myself that I can restrain my emotions and my mouth around her. I’m not sure what’s gonna happen with her family. No one has heard from Earl and they are looking for him. I can tell Breelin is scared, but she won’t let anyone help her. I don’t have to like her or be her best friend, to pray for her.
