Beginning Innocence

We all begin life with innocence not yet touched by the world around us.  The life we live molds us and forms us into the person we become.  God promises to give each of us the opportunity to know him at some point in our lives. How we chose to use this information is up to us.  We can choose to ignore His offer of salvation or be can embrace it.

God will put adversities in your life that can both drive you away from Him or bring Him closer to you. God gives you the choice of how you handle yourself in moments of crisis and joy.

Bench Warming Christian

Aubree’s Journal

What is a bench Warming Christian? That’s a person who goes to church because it looks good or to get away from the kids. It doesn’t mean they are not good Christians. It just means that when they are there they are not engaging with Christ. a group of Christians is a body. Basically, we are a family. When you go to church you should be inspired, comforted, and encouraged. Leave the outside world and your baggage at the door. Just like in Star Track, lower your shields and let yourself feel the presence of Jesus. You won’t feel a thing if you have your Shields up.

Check these out: Hebrews 10:25, Ephesians 4:12, 1 Corinthians 12:12, 1 Corinthians 12:27

There is no substitute for physically going to church and feeling the warmth of God’s presence in the hug of a fellow Christian. If you can’t go, don’t worry. get in your bible, read a devotional, watch a preacher. My favorites are Joel Olsteen and Joseph Prince. God can still talk directly to you through them. Don’t go a single day without Jesus. Every day you will get stronger, feel more peace, love and hope.

Prayer: “Lord, it is hard for me go to church. I feel like I am being judged. Help us not to lose hope, help us find a church family who will open their arms to me a sinner. Give me the strength and courage to walk into that church. Until that time, help me to stay focused on you. Put people in my path to lead me and guide me to the place you want me to be. In Jesus name. Amen”

Don’t lose hope, there is the perfect place for you. Be patient and keep trying. Don’t judge others as they have judged you. If you are not sure what to read or study in your bible in the meantime, tune in here with me and we can work through it together.
You are on a journey that will change your world! God bless and be encouraged.

Fear

Aubree’s Journal
WE all have a fear of something. It could be, what people think of you. Fear of public speaking, spiders, closed in places or maybe it’s a fear of someone. Did you know that fear is talked about over 500 times in the bible? There is a reason for that. Satan will use fear to break you down. He knows everyone has a fear and he considers that a weakness. The bad news is that to overcome your fear, it requires an action from you. The good news is you are not in it alone. Remember we talked about praying to God every day. He is here to help you.

Check out these verses: Psalm 118:6, Hebrews 13:6, Deuteronomy 5:5, Proverbs 3:21, Proverbs 3:23-24, Isaiah 12:2, Matthew 14:27, John 14:27

Those are just a few. When we talk about an action, you don’t have to do it all at once. For instance, public speaking, work on making conversation in your small groups. Write a short bible lesson and ask your parents if they would listen. The fear of spiders, well can’t help you much there. Lol. I think I will always be afraid of spiders. How about a fear of someone? That depends on the situation, you should pray for God’s guidance and help. This may require a harder action. Perhaps you need to get away or notify the police. Know that God is with you every step of the way. Read those verses and pray.
Prayer “Lord Jesus, I pray for all those who are reading today. I lift them up to you to help them face their fears. Don’t let Satan confuse them or break them down. Hear their voices when they pray and bring people in their path who will encourage and support them in their decisions to take action. Lord if there are those in dangourse sistuations give them the courage they need to take action and get help. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”
Be encouraged to take action. If at first you struggle, don’t give up. Set you goal for today small and tomorrow a little bigger. You can do it I believe in you.
Today is the start of facing my fears!

Prayer

Sometimes bad things happen to people and you don’t know how to help them. I was talking with my mom about my friend that had to move away suddenly. She was my best friend and I didn’t even get to say goodbye. My mom said you may not be able to talk to her, but your prayers will reach her. The cool thing is my prayers did reach her! I got to see her a few days later to say goodbye. There was a boy in my class he was angry and pushed all of us away after he did something bad. He thought he was not worthy of our friendship. I prayed hard he would let us back in. When he was mean a lot of my friends gave up and left him alone. Me, I prayed and waited for God to calm his anger and it took a while. God answered my prayers and not only did we become friends again, but I really believe God worked through us to give him hope and make him see he is worthy of love and friendship. God can do amazing things through prayer. The key is to be patient and wait. You may ask “How do I pray? What do I say?” God helps you with that in the Bible. There are several Bible verses that are prayers and you can read them as your prayer. God wants to hear your heart speak to him. If you can’t find the right words yet, that’s ok. He knows if you read the prayer and truly mean it, then it is a prayer from the heart.

Check out: Ephesians 1:18-20, Ephesians 3: 16-19, Philippians 1: 9-11, Colossians 1:9, 2 Thessalonians 3:5 or Philemon 1:6

Pretty soon the Holy Spirit will help you pray on your own. It doesn’t have to be frilly and sound like a rehearsed speech. Just let your heart speak to Jesus. That’s all he asks.

Prayer: “Father in Heaven, I want to pray for all those who are reading this journal. I pray that they open their heart to you and learn that you are there for them and you hear their prayers. Give them the confidence start a daily relationship with you. That they feel the peace and joy that comes with being in your presence every day. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen”

Now you try. Pray a simple prayer about whatever is on your mind. Remember He knows you’re learning and He will help you along. It’s kind of like getting an unexpected phone call from a friend. The excitement you feel will be the excitement He feels when you call Him in prayer.
Have a super great day!!

HOW DO I KNOW GOD’S WILL FOR ME?

We all have dreams for what our life can be.  When I was young I had dreams of being a singer.  I had a band for many years and loved it very much. The band split and I went to college.  I wanted to be a nurse.  I was not able to get into the nursing program at first.  Disappointed I majored in film.  Sometimes God will close doors in order to get you to the place he wants for your to be.   For me, I pray to God that my hopes and dreams will align with this will.  I have found that reading my bible everyday really helps me to be encouraged.  Sometimes I read one passage and other times I read for a half hour.  The Bible can be overwhelming trying to figure out how to use it for your needs. I started at the beginning of Psalms.  The bible is a living meaning God can talk to you through it’s passages.  For example you may read a passage that jumps out at you.  It seemed everywhere I was getting the same message wait and be patient.  I prayed “Ok, God I get it.  I feel an urgency to get moving in life, but you keep saying wait and be patient. Everything under control my timing is best.” God is teaching me to trust in him and it is very hard on me because I am a doer. When I see God working I’m excited.  My wisdom today is to wait and be patient.  Read a little in your bible.   Have a wonderful day!

SEASONS Once Upon My Innocence

cover photoLet me introduce myself. I am Lea Ann Vandygriff and I have written my first book Seasons Once Upon My Innocence.

The book explores the loss of innocence when adversities hit a small southern town.  Perhaps in seasons you will be able to find that by one young girls journey through innocence lost, you can learn to accept, forgive and find comfort in the strength God has given her in some of the darkest days and endless joy that surrounds her life.

My hope is that through the books and this journal we can together grow in our faith and relationship with Christ.  Let me know what’s on your mind through comments.  I will do my best to share the wisdom God has given me through my many trials over the years.  I’m looking for you to help me grow as much as I can help you.  Together we can become the people God needs for us to be.  Are you willing to take the journey with me?
